Despite the best efforts of Opposition politicians, single-issue campaigners and me and my colleagues in the media, most Kiwis seem resolutely unconvinced that this country is heading for hell in a handcart.

Now given that Ms Walker is a relatively new MP, we should probably cut her some slack. But lauding as "sensible" the opinion of a journalist who has publicly admitted that he is pushing an anti-government agenda probably isn't all that sensible at all; it's political hackery.
