Bastille Day

It's Bastille Day; a day of huge significance to our French friends.

And on Bastille Day 1979, we sat on the terraces at Eden Park, and watched as les Tricolours played the kind of sublime rugby that only they can. 33 years may have passed, but the memory of a performance by the French which could only be described as magnifique lives on.

Enjoy this trip down memory lane, as we send our warm greetings to nos amis Francais!

Yes, I was there as well. As I recall, it was all going so swimmingly for the ABs until shortly after half time. It remains one of the reasons why I rarely go to All Black test matches. The ABs don't lose often. But with the exception of last year's Tri Nations test against SA at the cake tin, the ABs have lost every other test match I have ever attended.
