An export boom!

Exporting is the key to our future prosperity. It leads to jobs, and to better economic times for the country.

And here's a type of exporting that we can only applaud; the Herald reports:

New Zealand is exporting not only its youth and skills to Australia, it is also helping to fill the nation's jails.

This country is a whisker behind Vietnam as the largest foreign source of prison inmates, and ahead of the United Kingdom and Ireland, Bureau of Statistics figures show.

The 771 Kiwis in jails around the Lucky Country account for 3 per cent of the 29,000 inmates at the end of June last year.

The expatriate New Zealand community also has the sixth-highest rate of overseas-born prisoners, with 162 inmates for every 100,000 adult Kiwis living in the country.

Great stuff; if these people are going to break the law, let them go to Australia and do it. In fact, let's encourage the Mongrel Mob and Black Power to take their pathetic squabbles over red and blue to the West Island as well!

Yay! This is a tremendous lark of an article. Our youth and their skills, leaving our shores! Let's celebrate and give credit where credit's due - thank you, National. Thank you, the John Key Party.

The pretence that youth leaving New Zealand is a new thing bought about by the National party. You really need to get up in the morning with both eyes closed to come to that conclusion.

If that's the best you can come up with in response to a tongue in cheek post, perhaps you need more time away Robert; just sayin'...

Would it be overly churlish to hope that the Aussie bikie gangs might dole out a slightly harsher sentence than their courts?
