We made some rather caustic comments about the New Year weather yesterday. And there's been no improvement today; a layer of low cloud is hanging around Wanganui, with a cool southerly breeze.
We've had more than a month's worth or rainfall since Thursday, and after a glorious Christmas week weather-wise, summer has gone AWOL.
So if anyone sees the Wanganui summer, could they please send it here. We've almost forgotten what sunshine looks like, and there is a heap of washing that needs to go on the line when the weather finally clears. And if we're lucky, we might just be able to find the vege garden later in the day...

Summer is just fine in Dunedin.
Go south, young man! Sun and high temperartures down here.
Stinking hot in the North
Inv it is bloody awful in HB - warm enough but the sun hasn't been seen for weeks - Xmas Day excepted.
Gravedodger was complaining when we had a beer last Thursday. Reckons he can't wait to get back to Akaroa.
Blacburn 3 Man U 2 = Sunshine
A bit the same here in the sounds. We even lit the fire a on New Years Day!!
Most galling was last night TV1 Weather when the Satelite image indicated clear skies over the country and many of us know the sun has been cancelled for now.
Nearly 80 mm here in one of the driest areas of 'The Bay', over New Year.
Average rainfall here is not much above 800mm per year, thats 10% in two days.
Where's the prick who brazenly predicted around 5 months ago "warm dry summer coming"., and Bob wants the siesmologists to give us their thoughts, a pinch of goatshit might be more usefull.
Quite so Gravedodger. We had over 100mm of rain between Thursday and Sunday. 2011's rainfall was close to 300mm above the annual average. The upside is that the cockies around here are still enjoying wonderful grazing conditions, so their precious supplies of feed won't be needed just yet.
To be fair though, we had a great 10 days of weather leading up to the 29th; Christmas was perfect, and the BBQ took a thrasing, and the weather cleared enough late yesterday to allow another BBQ on the deck.
