Don's irony

Don McGlashan has become one of our better-known musicians. He's probably best known for his work with his bands Blam Blam Blam and The Muttonbirds, and for playing the euphonium on rock songs.

Today, we read that McGlashan has had a bit of a mishap - the Herald reports:

Kiwi singer Don McGlashan has three broken ribs, a broken collarbone and a punctured lung after crashing into a car door that opened in front of him as he was cycling home.

But it was the next paragraph that was really ironic - read on (our emphasis added):

The singer was riding along Valley Rd, off Dominion Rd in Mt Eden, late on Monday afternoon when he was "doored".

So here's a song for Don McGlashan as he recuperates from his unfortunate accident:

We wish Don a speedy recovery from his injuries, but the question has to be asked; is Valley Road "half-way down Dominion Road"?

If it is, the media has fallen for it hook line and sinker Jeff; Stuff, the Herald, TVNZ and Newstalk ZB have all carried the story.

"But its getting better now
He found it in him to forgive"

Wise words from the song.
There's something in that for all of us, particularly when we have to forgive this government for the shambles the country is in. Murder and crime rates are reported as down, which is nice, but far out their economic policy is almost unforgivable.
