We have may mentioned once or twice that Atlanta rock band Third Day is our all-time favourite Christian band. We've seen them play twice at Parachute Festival, and both times, they rocked the house.
This song is, as Mac Powell says in the intro, the first song that Third Day played as a five-piece, and though it might be an oldie, it's a goodie. And we love this stripped-down, acoustic arrangement for the early part of this version before the volume cranks up at the end. Most of all though, we love the message that this song brings; of a great and powerful God, but also a loving and forgiving God - check these lyrics out:
Set this place on fire
Send Your spirit, Saviour
Rescue me from the mire
Show Your servant favor
Yesterday was the day that I was alone
Now I'm in the presence of Almighty God
Chorus:
And yes our God, He is a comsuming fire
And the flames burn down deep in my soul
Yes, our God, He is a consuming fire
He reaches inside and He melts down this cold heart of stone
So Ps Chris; this one's for you. We'll be thinking of you as you bring the Word to your church this morning, finishing with a really good song!
