If you get the chance to see a replay of the Wellington Phoenix's 3-1 victory over the Brisbane Roar, watch it, especially around the 55 minute mark. You'll see the goal of the season, from the Nix's newest signing, Eugene Dadi.
Ricki Herbert is a smart cookie, and we reckon this signing might be his best yet. At the moment it's only for eight weeks, but Dadi, a former Ivory Coast international brought real class to the Westpac Stadium last night. He's big, he's skilful and he has bags of experience. He's both a traget man for the midfield, and a terrific finisher.
Dadi scored twice last night; once with each foot! But it was his first goal that was a stunner. The ball was headed to him out past the penalty spot. with his back to the goal, Dadi unleashed a cracking bicycle kick which thundered into the net - the kind of goal we're used to seeing from Brazil. His second goal a few minutes later was a clinical finish.
The 'Nix move up to fourt on the table now, although there are other matches to be played this weekend. They have a pretty good run in to the end of the regualr season, and the play-offs now beckon. We're guessing that the 9000 that turned up last night will be back next weekend, with friends, to watch the new kid in town - come on you 'Nix!
UPDATE: Just found the above piccie on the Yellow Fever forum site, so a big thank-you to whoever captured Dadi's magic moment for posterity.
