Newsflash! Mallard apologises!!

Yes folks; you read it here first. Trevor Mallard actually apologised this afternoon.

During Question Time, he accused Paula Bennett of having made a one-fingered gesture after answering a question - a rather personal question it was too. Bennett emphatically denied having made any gesture, and the Speaker accepted her word.

Shortly after Question Time, Mallard took a call to advise that people had phoned in and assured his office that Paula Bennett was merely waving! On that basis, he apologised unreservedly.

Now, we don't praise Trevor Mallard very often. It may in fact be the first such occurrence in the almost two-year life of Keeping Stock! That makes it an event worthy of recognition. Well done Trevor, 'fessing up and all that.

And perhaps we could opine that now that Trevor Mallard has actually apologised once, and the sky hasn't fallen, he might like to make a habit of it. Let's see - there's Don Brash, the Exclusive Brethren, Julian Robertson.....

Getting Trev to apologise once is a major - getting him to apologise 3,4, or 5 times could cause the sky to fall in.

By the way Lockwood-Smith seems to have Labour on the ropes at the moment. He dealt to Clayton Cosgrove in no uncertain terms over Points Of Order this afternoon.

He's only apologising because he sees the writing on the wall and will resign from Parliament during this term, hoping to get a board appointment or two if he's nice (now there's an oxymoron)

mallard should apologise to heineken while he's at it. sales plummeted substantially in the months following his revelation of rectal manoeuvres in the dark.

I would never praise Mallard for apologising. His whole argument, and that bof Labour, is that Bennet should have remained a solo mum on a benefit. Early in her term they attacked her for being a solo mum, then they attacked her for bettering her circumstnaces. It's the same old Labour approach - they need people to stay down, on the benefit, in order to be poltically viable. They campaign for better conditions and pay rates for the "workers", then as soon as the "worker" takes a step up they tax all his advances off him and call him a rich prick. How dumb does NZ have to be not to see it?! Mallard and his type are pure evil. Reject him and his apologies completely till he is far from any seat of power over others.

Anon - maybe you couldn't see my tongue in my cheek as I "praised" Mallard!
