Global Warming strikes again!

Yes indeed. The phenomenon known as Global Warming has hit Wanganui with a vengeance this morning. At 9am, the temperature is a balmy, sub-tropic 2*C, after having sunk to -2* overnight. Bear in mind that the reading is taken at the automatic weather station at Wanganui Airport, less than 200 metres from where the Tasman Sea laps onto South Beach. The temperature is the valleys of Aramoho and Wanganui East will have been considerably colder!

Yes indeed dear readers. As I look at the blue tips of my fingers struggling to exert pressure on my keyboard, I think I'm in danger of becoming a convert to Global Warming - not even eh!

It was 0 when we went for our walk at 7am.

It's warmed up a bit since then but definitely not tropical.

According to MetService, it was -1* at 6am when I first checked, and that was still -1* at 8am. Our place is a similar distance from the beach as the airport is, and sub-zero temperatures out here are a rare occurrence.

2.4 degree frost in Hastings this morning which has turned black. No more than 4 degrees now.

Here in Wellington, there was ice on the dog's water bowl. First time for several years.

A tropical 7'ish in the big smoke. Last friday was the best frost we had seen for some time. Ice everywhere on my drive to work.

Yup, climate change is upon us all right.

No, no LB - it's Global Warming! Well, at least, that's what it was until suddenly the planet wasn't overheating any more. THAT'S when it became Climate Change.

Don't you think that's a wee bit dishonest?

The planet is warming up. Loads of stats to prove that. But you need to look at the figures to realise that.

But an easier to spot feature is the extremes in climate we’re getting. And you can work that out by just looking out the window.

Not so LB - the warming up stopped several years ago, hence the change of name by the proponents of this "industry" when they saw their livelihood threatened.

Sure, there are extremes of climate, and the climate as a whole is changing, but hasn't that always been the case?

Climate is changing at a faster rate now than ever before (in modern times). That’s irrefutable.

Just because the Kyoto protocol is pants, and the application of its various protoculs badly handled, doesn’t mean that climate change is not real.

LB. You are right the climate is changing especially in the Artic have a look at the chart on TBR.CC

Indeed baxter - all that ice that was melting a couple of years ago, all those homeless polar bears - it was all a big mistake!
