Helen Clark and Michael Cullen have left Parliament, and the Labour Party is now Phil Goff's to rule with an iron fist. Well, that's Phil's theory anyway!! And so today Poor Phil has reshuffled his shadow Cabinet. Stuff carries the details.
Chris Carter is the big loser, having Education taken from him, having scored no hits whatsoever against Anne Tolley. We somehow doubt that Murray McCully will be quaking in his boots!
And Trevor Mallard is the big winner, moving back onto Labour's front bench after a suitable period in purgatory after admitting an assault on Tau Henare. We suspect his Twitter updates and huis comments on Kiwiblog will become unbearable! Mr Mallard must be miffed however that on caucus rankings, he is still rated as less worthy than Darren Hughes, despite his 24 years in Parliament.
All in all though, it's mere shuffling by Phil Goff, and two words come to mind - Deckchairs and Titanic.
