It'll be a big night at the Cake Tin tonight as the mighty, table-topping Hurricances go up against their arch-enemies, the Blues.
It's a crunch match for both teams - the Blues need to win to keep their season alive, whilst a bonus-point win to the 'Canes will guarantee them top place when the weekend ends, regardless of other results. Witrh the pundits tipping that 40 competition points will be the cut-off point for a semi-final berth, a five-pointer to the Hurricanes will almost guarantee them a semi-final spot, and go a long way towards making that a home semi.
The Blues will be a dangerous beast tonight, with everything to play for. However, they have major injury worries. We reckon though that if the 'Canes can play half as well tonight as they did last Saturday, they should win, and win well. Then again, this is the Hurricanes we are talking about, and as the advertising used to say, "expect the unexpected"!!

You say if `the canes can play half as well as they did last week'. I only saw patches of last weeks game and the DomPost in particular has given the Canes a lot of plaudits.
However I note others saying that they just might have been lucky to catch a Brumbies team on a `downer' following their South African trip and the death of one of their players in a road accident.
One of the most consistent things about the Hurricanes over the years is their inconsistency so I for one wouldn't rule out a Blues win.
The strange things with the Hurricanse selections for this week is the dropping of Bryn Evans to the reserves. He was praised everywhere (including by Cooper) for single handedly curing the Canes lineout problems last weekend and yet cannot make the starting 15 this week. Does Cooper have his `favoutites' perhaps.
Last week was as good as I have ever seen the Hurricanes play pdm - it was a 77 minute performance, spoiled only by the Brumbies getting a try in the first three minutes!
As for Evans, he did indeed play well last week, but perhaps Cooper wants to pit Eaton head-to-head with Ali Williams tonight. I would expect the 'Canes to play a high-energy game tonight, especially with the Blues' loose forward problems. Their continuity last week was excellent.
