Never to be released

One would hope that is the fate of twice-convicted murderer Graeme Burton. Despite the fact that he has one leg less than most of us, Burton is still lethal. The Herald reports that Burton appeared in court today charged with attempted murder, relating to an attack on a fellow prisoner at Paremoremo just prior to Christmas.

The Parole Board surely now will never allow Burton to be released - we hope and trust!

Burton is the classic example of why a public safety model of criminal justice ought to prevail over rehabilitation for murderers.
Of course, having said that, I entirely accept that such a model makes him even more dangerous which is why the liberalism in our prison system needs a complete rethink.
