Key to Peters - %$&# off!!

3News is reporting that John Key has not only shut the door on Winston Peters and NZ First post-election, he's sent the NZ First leader packing. 3News says

National leader John Key has moved to further explain his post election position around doing a deal with Winston Peters and New Zealand First.

He says he would rather remain in opposition, and cost National the chance of being in Government, than relying on Peters to get National over the line.

Key used to be a money trader; he took gambles, now he is firming up his position around Winston Peters and New Zealand First.

Under no circumstances, he says, will he go into Government with Peters, even if it means costing Key the chance of being Prime Minister.

Last month Key tentatively ruled out Peters, but gave him wriggle room. Two days later Key went further saying ‘under no circumstances’ would he work with Peters, but today's comments were even stronger.

Key says he has no confidence in Peters.

“It's about whether as Prime Minister of New Zealand I could look him in the eye, and I've lost confidence," says Key.

"Under no circumstances, he says, will he go into Government with Peters, even if it means costing Key the chance of being Prime Minister." - you can't get any more unequivocal than that!

And Clark says that Key will deal with Peters if he needs him to form a government.

So who do you trust?

Good for him.

Winston has proven that he is electoral poison.

I do not know how many times I have said on blogs. But I will say it again. I could almost stomach another three years of Labour if the price was the demise of Winston Peters and NZ First.

I pray it does not come to that.

I am reminded of a certain spech by Oliver Cromwell (repeated in 1939) - "Go for all......
