Homepaddock carries an interesting and informative post this morning carrying a link to all those who have registered as Third Parties to campaign at this year's election.
As one would expect, Trade Unions are well represented in the list, even disproportionately so, including Keeping Stock's good friends, the EPMU (or which Inventory2 was once a card-carrying member) and the SFWU, employer of, among others, "Megaphone Len" Richards. The full story of the extent that the SFWU overspent its members' funds supporting Labour in 2005 has not yet been told on Keeping Stock, but watch this space...

I was a member of Finsec when it was the old bank union. As I recall membership was compulsory back in the period mid 60's to early 80's when I left the industry. Was actually the office rep for about a year when Angela Foulkes was the big (in more ways than one)noise for the union.
I am still proud to say that when a two day strike was called I went to work because I did not believe in the reason for the strike.
Just goes to show the only reason why have unions in this country is to fund Labour when noone else will.
Key should simply ban them. And to make sure, he should remove the legal protection that stops employers suing unions for damages for every cent they could their businesses
yep, strikes, pay rises, pickets, scandals, are all legally protected in NZ
Key should just let the market sort this out: and allow employers to recover from unions and their members the costs they have caused to their businesses.
