Are food prices an omen?

Homepaddock comments on the significant rise in food prices, and notes:

The annual increase in food prices of 10.6% in the 12 months to August was the largest since the year to May 1990.

Ah yes, 1990 - the death throes of the Lange/Palmer/Moore Labour government. Can we take it then that history will repeat in 2008? Fingers crossed....

That's a bit of lateral thinking which had escaped me.

I'll cross fingers and toes.

Fuck yeah - just wait until the "books are opened" after the election.

bye bye Labour Lite!

Anyone who thinks we can afford a "socialist health system" or "socialist schools" or "socialist universities" are completely fucking mistaken

ACT's policies are not optional: they are mandatory.
Wait until John Key and Roger open the books!

We know that Cullen has spent all of the dosh but, there probably won't be a bank to bail out this time - then who really knows how stable Jim's Kiwibank is.

Just a train set to be got rid of, a whole heap of crap legislation to be repealed and a lot of hard work and forward thinking to get the country back on the road to prosperity.
