Keeping Health

Content has been a bit light over the last couple of days, as Mrs Inventory has had a bit of a health scare, and has ended up spending a couple of nights at the Wanganui Hilton. We spent a good portion of yesterday at the brand new Emergency Dept (just like ER!!), then it was off to the suite - whoops - the ward. She's much improved today, and is champing at the bit to get out tomorrow, if allowed.

One thing we have noticed though is the absence of NZ doctors at our local health facility. From the House Surgeons at ED, through Registrars to the Consultant, all are overseas trained doctors. I know that Wangavegas has perennial recruitment problems, but it's far worse than when I was working there a few years back. I guess that other provincial areas have similar problems. So where are all our locally trained doctors?

UPDATE: Mrs Inventory is not a happy lass! The good doctors have decided that another night in their fine abode is called for. Still, she has her cellphone and laptop with her....

Fair point HP - and mostly it will. However I can't go up to the hospital until our staff member turns up at 9am, so the time can be used unproductively while I have brekkie!

Thanks to all for your kind words (-:

Hope Mrs Inv comes home today and is well on the road to a full recovery.

If she is confined to bed for a day or two when she gets home and needs a bell to summon you I have one available.

Nothing too serious I hope. With reference to your foreign staff comment. I have been in and out of Whangerai base hospital a number of times in the last six weeks and had also noticed that MOST of the medical staff were foreign. That said the service has been very good.
