The Greens - party of principle?

That's a very good question today! We now know that Mike Ward has had a "Road to Damascus" experience, and will stand aside to allow Nandor to retire, and Red Russel Norman to enter Parliament for the last 28 sitting days of the current body!

Now what difference will that make? Well, RR will now enjoy the privileges of office, including an ability to criss-cross Aotearoa by air, and take advantage of the Greens' parliamentary machine to get the pre-election message to the masses.

Adam Smith says it better than I can - he calls it a "a blatant piece of manipulation of the rules under MMP". The so-called "principled" Greens should hang their collective heads in shame. They are no better than others who have been corrupted by the Baubles of Office, those three words whaich will come back to haunt another trough-feeder later in the year!

It's a RORT.

Clearly this is against the spirit of the electoral acts, if not the letter: the Independent Commission Against Corruption should just add this to the list -
and finding the Greens corrupt - there could be no other verdict - should remove them from Parliament and disband the party
